Binissalem was the first Designation of Origin to be recognised in the Balearic Islands. This wine-growing region, located in the centre of the island, combines native varieties such as Manto Negro and Moll with a special microclimate protected by the Tramuntana mountains. The result: wines with character, identity and heritage.

In the centre of Mallorca, five towns—Binissalem, Santa Maria del Camí, Sencelles, Santa Eugènia and Consell—share something more than just land: a long-standing passion for wine. Here, where vine cultivation dates back to the 1st century B.C., the ‘DO Binissalem’ label preserves the legacy of a land with wine-growing in its soul.

The native varieties Manto Negro, Callet, Moll and Giró Ros make wines with Mediterranean hints: fleshy fragrant reds, fresh whites with notes of white fruit and almond, and fine sparkling wines that celebrate the island sip by sip.

The landscape of the Designation of Origin, sculpted by the Tramuntana mountains and dotted with vineyards, offers a range of experiences: tours of family wineries, food trails and festivals such as Festa des Vermar, all with wine as the central theme.
