Bodegas Menorquinas

Menorca's First Wine with an Original Quality Seal

At the foot of Monte Toro in northern Menorca, Bodegas Menorquinas grows its own vines on ancestral lands. Since 1985, this small family winery has been reviving the island's winemaking tradition with artisanal wines made from its own grapes. This brand honours the past by making wines with character and meaning.

The story of Bodegas Menorquinas began with a desire to bring wine back to Menorca. In 1985, Crespín Mariano Vadell resumed winemaking on historic lands to the north of Es Mercadal, on the S'Estància Alta estate. Today, this winery is a pioneer on the island, as the first to obtain the ‘Vi de la Terra Illa de Menorca’ quality label. Its 3.5 hectares of vineyards grow Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Macabeu and Parellada vines, planted in clay, slate and sandstone soils. The process is carried out with great care, from production to bottling. Production is small-scale with between 6,000 and 12,000 bottles a year, and can be purchased directly from the winery or in specialist wine shops. Bodegas Menorquinas makes white wines both for the year and for ageing, and red wines ranging from Joven to Gran Reserva, aged in American oak. You can also book a tour to explore the vineyard and get an insider’s view of the production process. This is an essential stop for those in search of wines with the soul of the Balearic islands.
