Unique Wine from Ciutadella: The Essence of Binitord
At an old marès sandstone quarry south of Ciutadella, Binitord makes wines that truly reflect Menorca. Under the Vi de la Terra Illa de Menorca label, its commitment to sustainability is evident in its eco-friendly practices and careful craftsmanship throughout production. These wines honour the island’s terroir and traditions.
Binitord, created in 2007, is a family winery based on respect for the environment and modern techniques. With five hectares of vineyards growing on chalky soils, it cultivates varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Chardonnay and Macabeo, producing 30,000 bottles a year.
The underground facilities guarantee optimal wine ageing conditions. Its labels include ‘Rosat’, made from Ull de Llebre and Syrah, and ‘Negre Criança’, aged in French and American oak barrels. Binitord is also the first to offer Menorca's first black vermouth, macerated with 25 local herbs, honouring the island's biodiversity.
Visitors can take guided tours of the vineyard and winery, complete with a wine tasting. With sustainable practices such as sheep grazing and the use of organic fertilisers, Binitord protects the natural values of Menorca, fusing quality with conservation.
