Vi d'Auba was born in 2006 from the idea of four friends who wanted to make wine with meaning, technique and heritage. At the Son Bennàssar estate in Felanitx, they grow their own grapes using sustainable practices and minimal intervention. The wines reflect the landscape of the region, under the ‘DO Vi de la Terra Mallorca’ label.
The winery works seven hectares of vineyards in Felanitx and Manacor. Old Callet vines grow alongside Giró Blanc, Premsal, Merlot and Syrah. Each plot has its own history, from the reddish soils of Son Nadal to the gravelly soils of Son Bennàssar. All grapes that are made into wine are home-grown. Vi d'Auba combines traditional cultivation methods with advanced technology in the cellar. The grapes are harvested by hand then vinified in modern vats in a temperature-controlled barrel room. Some wines, such as Callet, are still made by treading the grapes in the barrel in the traditional way. The philosophy of Miquel Binimelis, who now leads the venture, is clear: minimal intervention, together with respect for the soil and the vines’ natural rhythm. His commitment to conscious winegrowing has given way to wines such as Picot'N and Singló: expressive, exact and faithful to the island's identity.
