500 Years of Passion for Winemaking at Finca Son Bordils
Finca Son Bordils, located in the heart of Mallorca, has witnessed centuries of history and dedication to winemaking. Founded by Joan Bordils i Pont on 18 January 1433, the estate has endured both glorious and challenging times, to become one of the leading wine producers in the region. With a rich heritage that dates back to the 14th century, Son Bordils is synonymous with tradition and quality in wine production, persisting today with renewed passion for winegrowing.
Finca Son Bordils was established by Joan Bordils i Pont in 1433 after purchasing land on which vineyards already existed. In the 15th century, the estate was subject to plundering, proof of its relevance in winegrowing.
It reached its peak in the 19th century, when it became the largest winegrowing property in Inca and one of the most important in Mallorca. This growth was driven by French demand and, despite the devastation inflicted by phylloxera, the estate recovered once again with new plantations and techniques. In the 1990s, the estate experienced a renewal when 25 hectares were replanted with diverse grape varieties, including Chardonnay, Muscat, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
Today, Son Bordils wines, recognised for their quality and strong connection to Mallorca, continue to be leaders in the ‘Vi de la Terra Mallorca’ label, offering an authentic food and wine experience for wine lovers.
