Organic Gardening With a Social Spirit at Ecoverd
In the organic nursery at the Foundation for People with Disabilities of Menorca, it’s not just plants that flourish. At Vivers Ecoverd, they grow local, horticultural, aromatic and ornamental varieties while promoting the employment of people with disabilities. A venture that’s all about sustainability, diversity and social commitment.
In the plant nursery located at Finca de Bintaufa, Ecoverd has been dedicated to the organic production of seedlings and aromatic plants from Menorca since 2013. They’ve partnered up with the island’s native seed bank and work with varieties adapted to the island environment.
Ecoverd is part of the Special Employment Centre of the Foundation for People with Disabilities of Menorca (Fundació per a Persones amb Discapacitat de Menorca), and has a varied professional team where 18 of the 25 workers have a recognised disability. Under specialised supervision, they manage not just the nursery, but also urban gardening services, green space maintenance, and access control to pristine beaches. Ecoverd proves that a plant can grow more intentionally when we care for the land... and those who work it.
