In the rugged landscape around Puig Tomir, among pastures and oak trees, Formatges Sa Cabreta was born, a small organic cheese factory run by two young people who decided to ditch tourism for shepherding. With Murcia-Granada goats and an eye for balance with the environment, they make handmade cheeses with a natural rind and unmatched flavour.
Sa Cabreta is a statement of principles. Nicolau Cerdà and Josep Sánchez left everything to return to the countryside and revive the values they learned as children. Their herd grazes freely on rotating plots of land in the Tramuntana mountains, where each goat is carefully reared and every cheese is made in a completely artisanal way.
Their cheeses are made from raw goat’s milk which becomes small, delicate blocks with textures similar to camembert or blue cheese. The star: their Garrova cheese, which won the Organic Product of the Year award in 2023, with a sweet balance reminiscent of coffee or chocolate. Their philosophy is clear: to give to their environment what their environment gives to them.
Production depends on the seasons, prioritising quality and animal welfare. They only sell in Mallorca, either directly or through local shops.
