Since 1939, Quesos Torralba has been synonymous with tradition and quality in Menorca. Made with raw milk from free-range cows, its DOP Mahón-Menorca cheeses stand out for their intense, authentic flavour. With an artisan ageing process in natural cheese caves, Torralba still uses techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation, delighting taste buds and winning over judges.
Quesos Torralba is the legacy of a family that has been perfecting the art of cheese for more than 80 years. Founded by Josep Cardona, known as ‘Bep de Torralba’, this business began in a small warehouse in Alaior and still produces DOP Mahón-Menorca cheeses today using the same traditional method.
The key lies in its unique process: raw milk from Friesian cows, fed on carefully selected pastures, is turned into semicurado (medium mature) and curado (mature) cheeses that age slowly in natural cheese caves. Each piece is handmade, rubbed with oil and paprika to give it its unique texture and flavour.
Having won multiple awards, including best curado and semicurado DOP Mahón-Menorca cheese, Torralba’s products are a true celebration of Menorcan food. Moreover, their artisan method ensures each block is one of a kind, reflecting the rich culture of the island.
