Sa Roqueta, a family cheese factory located in Ferreries, Menorca, is all about tradition, innovation and offering unique countryside experiences. From DOP Mahón-Menorca cheese made with vegetable rennet, to tastings and activities such as making your own cheese, Sa Roqueta offers much more than just products: it offers unforgettable moments in the heart of the Menorcan countryside.
In 2015, Juan Carlos and Soraya, together with their children Joan and Carla, founded Formatges Sa Roqueta, seeking to recover the authentic taste of Mahón-Menorca cheese while honouring Menorcan tradition. Since then, this family business has been making artisan cheeses using traditional methods while innovating at the same time. For example, it makes a cheese with vegetable thistle rennet, an age-old recipe that makes it suitable for vegetarians.
Sa Roqueta is not just a cheese factory, but a place where you can fully immerse yourself in the countryside experience. At the Son Arret farm, visitors can make their own cheese, milk cows, or enjoy guided tours with tastings of local products such as sausages, olive oil and wine from the island. Its shop, Sa Botigueta, has the charm of an old cheese factory and offers zero-kilometre (Km0) products, from honey and jams to typical Menorcan sweets.
Sa Roqueta is committed to sustainability while respecting tradition, as reflected in its DOP Mahón-Menorca cheese, with the authentic taste of the Menorcan countryside. A visit to Sa Roqueta is a chance to discover the real flavours of the island through an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind countryside experience.
