Toni and Catalina have been running the Lluriach Vell farm for 17 years, producing DOP Mahón-Menorca cheese and cured sausages in a traditional, artisan way. Committed to diversifying farm work, they seek to provide added value through their farm and sell their products at markets, fairs and local shops, where they are highly appreciated by their customers.
For 17 years, Toni Bosch and Catalina Salom have worked hard to turn Lluriach Vell farm into a leading artisan producer of DOP Mahón-Menorca cheese and traditional sausages. Managing the farm together, the couple have worked hard to combine traditional techniques with diversification, seeking to boost the value of their production and keep the essence of the countryside alive. Their carefully crafted products are a reflection of their dedication, and are much loved by local customers.
Catalina, a mother of two girls with a passion for horses, left her admin job in 2004 to work full-time in the primary sector with Toni. Her link to the countryside runs in her family, which has made this life deeply fulfilling for her. Between 2015 and 2016, Catalina was the first ever caixera pagesa (farming representative) for the Sant Martí celebrations, an honour she truly enjoyed and which boosted her love for local traditions.
Lluriach Vell sells its products in shops, at markets and at fairs, where its artisan Mahón-Menorca cheese stand out for its unique flavour and quality, available in: semicurado (medium mature), curado (mature) and añejo (extra mature). The farm is also on social media, so cheese and sausage lovers can follow its day-to-day tasks and learn more about the artisan process.
