Mercat d'Alcúdia: Tradition and Local Products in a Medieval Setting
Every Tuesday and Sunday, from 8am to 1:30pm, Mercat d'Alcúdia fills the old quarter with colours, aromas and tradition. With a wide range of fruit, vegetables, craft products, clothing and leather goods, it is a gathering place for locals and visitors alike. In the summer, the market expands to become one of the biggest and most popular markets on the island.
Located next to the medieval walls of Alcudia, this market offers a unique combination of history and shopping. Every week, hundreds of stalls display products from the local area, from fresh fruit and vegetables to handmade jewellery, footwear and fabrics. During the summer months, it expands to taking up the entire old town, attracting thousands of visitors.
Mercat d'Alcúdia stands out not only for its variety, but also for its wonderful surroundings. Among cobbled streets and ancient buildings, you can shop, see the ruins of the Roman City of Pollentia, and visit the Church of Sant Jaume all in one day. On Fridays, there’s also a small food market in the nearby Plaça de Vicari.
The market’s lively atmosphere and diverse range of products makes it perfect for those seeking authenticity and quality in the north of Mallorca.
