Fira de s'Oliva: A Weekend Dedicated to Mallorca’s Liquid Gold
Every year during the third weekend in November, Caimari’s streets are decked out to host the Fira de s'Oliva (Olive Oil Fair), an event dedicated to Mallorca's olive-growing tradition. For two days, the town offers olive and olive oil tastings, craft products, shows and demonstrations of the traditional olive oil production process. Against a backdrop of olive groves at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains, this fair is a must for lovers of Mallorcan food and culture.
Caimari, with a culture deeply rooted in olive growing, hosts the Fira de s'Oliva every year, one of the most authentic fairs in Mallorca. During the weekend, its streets are filled with stalls selling marinated olives, Designation of Origin olive oil, handmade bread, cured sausages and olive wood products.
One of the highlights of the fair is the tour of the old Cas Manescal olive oil mill, where a demonstration of the traditional oil extraction process is given. The event also features a full schedule of activities with parades, performances of the traditional folk dance ball pagès, tastings and craft & fresh produce markets.
The Fira de s'Oliva is a journey to the heart of rural Mallorca, where a blend of history, culture and flavour creates a festive atmosphere. In a beauty spot surrounded by fields of ancient olive trees, this fair has become one of the most anticipated events in autumn on the island.
