Fira del Calamar in Sant Carles: Tradition, Food and Entertainment

Every year, the Fira del Calamar (Squid Fair) turns Sant Carles de Peralta into the food capital of Ibiza. As part of its patron saint festivities, it brings together professional and amateur chefs who make a wide range of recipes using fresh squid. With more than 8,000 portions served, the fair features a craft market, children’s area and live concerts, all in a countryside setting surrounded by almond, fig and carob trees.

Sant Carles de Peralta, a traditional town in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu, hosts one of the most popular food fairs on the island. Organised together with the Confraria de Pescadors d'Eivissa, it stands out for its excellent food, which includes a variety of tapas made with local squid.


The event has its own currency, carlinos, used to buy servings and products at the market. As well as food, the fair puts on children’s activities, workshops and live concerts that fill the streets of the town with an air of excitement. To make access easier, more than 5,000 parking spaces are provided, ensuring a comfortable visit.


The combination of tradition, food and entertainment make the Fira del Calamar in Sant Carles a must for those looking to try the real taste of Ibiza.
