Since the end of the 19th century, Palo Túnel has been a leader in traditional Mallorcan liqueur. With a Protected Geographical Indication (IGP), this liqueur is made with cinchona, gentian and natural sugars following a long-standing artisanal recipe. Originally used for medicinal purposes, it evolved to become the island's aperitif of choice, typically enjoyed on its own, with soda or with gin.
One of Túnel's leading products is no doubt ‘IGP Palo de Mallorca’. Produced by the Antonio Nadal distillery, Palo Túnel stays true to the original recipe, respecting traditional processes. Its strong dark colour, together with notes of toasted wood and roasted coffee, make it instantly recognisable. On the palate, it strikes a balance between sweetness and bitterness, and offers a silky, persistent finish.
Beyond being a classic drink, Palo Túnel has made its way into Mallorcan cuisine, used in reductions for meat, vinaigrettes or to add a unique flavour to pastries. It comes in a range of formats, from individual bottles to special bottles with a tap for bars and restaurants. A liqueur that captures the essence of Mallorca in every sip.
