Sustainable Winegrowing in Mandia Vell
Mandia Vell is a winery located in Manacor, Mallorca, which dates back to 1263. This historic estate practices biodynamic winegrowing, producing high quality organic wines. They offer guided tours to learn about the production process and taste their red and white wines, made from grapes grown in their vineyards.
Mandia Vell is one of the oldest estates in Mallorca, located between Manacor and Porto Cristo. Their vineyards, which bask in early morning rays of sunshine, cover 11 hectares where organic grapes and olive trees are grown, and sheep and pigs are reared. The winery combines traditional techniques with modern innovations to ensure the quality of their wines.
The estate has great historical significance, as it was a gift from King James I of Aragon to his soldier Pere de Mandia in 1263. Today, Thomas Wambsganss runs the winery, applying biodynamic techniques in 70% of his work. Sheep on the farm provide natural fertiliser, contributing to organic farming. Mandia Vell wines are fresh and fruity, perfect to enjoy any time. The winery also offers guided tours with tastings and aperitifs, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the estate’s rich history and tradition.
