Over Three Hectares of Local Flavour
After a life dedicated to cars, Joan Sureda decided to return to his family’s land and reconnect with his roots. Today he grows seasonal fruit and vegetables at Sa Carrotja, a sustainable organic farm that offers direct sales and sells its produce weekly at Porto Cristo Market.
In Manacor, Joan Sureda grows vegetables such as tomatoes, onions and kale on over 3 hectares of fertile land. He left the automobile industry to lead Sa Carrotja, a family farming venture committed to direct sales, zero-mile food and sustainability. Every week he opens the gates to his farm to those looking for flavour, freshness and friendly service. Joan offers winter and summer crops, as well as lesser-known products such as pak choi and kohlrabi.
His country house completes the experience with accommodation in a tranquil setting surrounded by fruit trees. Here, people experience the countryside at a different pace, with their hands on the land and their eyes set on the future. The farm also attends local fairs and collaborates with responsible consumption initiatives. The loyal clientele is growing every year, driven by word of mouth and the farm’s authenticity.
