Sant Antoni Cooperative, the Driving Force Behind Farming in Ibiza
Founded in 1951, the Sant Antoni Farming Cooperative is a cornerstone of Ibiza’s agricultural sector. Through their weekly market and carob processing centre, they promote buying local, traditional crops and organic production. They also offer technical services, farming machinery and specialist training.
Sant Antoni Cooperative was founded to supply local farmers, and today they keep the island’s agricultural tradition alive. Their activity revolves around crops such as almond trees, carob trees and grains, as well as livestock farming, which is still carried out on small farms. They have a cutting-edge processing centre for collecting and crushing carob, which is turned into flour and other by-products.
Every Friday, the site hosts the Mercat de Sa Cooperativa, where organic and seasonal produce can be bought directly. From farming machinery to training, hardware, plant protection products and animal feed, their range covers the needs of the countryside and the rural community. Their modern facilities also produce custom feed, using local ingredients such as carob and barley. After more than 70 years, they continue to be a benchmark for local production and food sovereignty in Ibiza.
