A Feast of Cuttlefish and Nautical Culture at the Fira de la Sípia
For almost 20 years, the Fira Nàutica i Gastronòmica de la Sípia (Cuttlefish & Nautical Fair) has become a top event for lovers of the sea and good food. Held in Port d'Alcúdia every April, it brings together more than 40 restaurant owners who make all kinds of cuttlefish dishes. With tastings under a large marquee, boat displays, family activities and concerts, this fair attracts more than 20,000 visitors every year.
For three days, the Fira de la Sípia turns Alcudia’s Passeig Marítim into a showcase of food and culture, where cuttlefish takes the spotlight. Under a large marquee and in partaking restaurants, guests can sample everything from traditional recipes to new creations from top local chefs.
But this fair is more than just a food festival. It’s also a hub for the nautical world, with boat displays, products and services from the marine industry. Throughout the weekend, there are activities for all ages: parades featuring traditional big-headed giants, children’s workshops, a craft market and outdoor concerts to liven up the evenings in Alcudia.
With free entry and a token system for trying the tapas dishes, the Fira de la Sípia grows bigger every year, with a clear identity as a unique event in Mallorca, where the sea, tradition and food come together in a special festive atmosphere.
