The Tales and Taste of Sant Ferran

Discover the soul of Formentera through an experience full of excitement

Sant Ferran, in the heart of Formentera, is one of the best places to take in the island's charm. From there, we’ll set off on a lovely bike ride that will take us to an idyllic cove: Cala en Baster. After we get back, we can find a range of mouthwatering food options.

In the centre of Formentera, Sant Ferran offers a host of possibilities for combining history with flavour. Its beautiful 19th century church has been declared a Bien de Intéres Cultural (Asset of Cultural Interest). After a nice stroll through the village, we’ll then head to Cala en Baster, which is only two kilometres away. This part of the Mediterranean offers a stunning natural environment with its crystal clear waters and rock formations. After a refreshing dip, we’ll get back to the village for some delicious food. Fonda Pepe, famous since the 60s for its hippy vibe, is still an iconic place where you can look back on the bohemian spirit of Formentera. The original atmosphere of this place is still the same. While we eat, we can also take a look at the many photos that tell of an island very different from today. The Can Forn restaurant, with more than 20 years of history, is one of the best spots for the island's traditional cuisine. Fried octopus, sofrit pagès (stew) and ensalada payesa (farmer’s salad) are just some of the options we can choose from to immerse ourselves in the most authentic island flavours. Another option is La Mariterranea, famous for its amazing rice dishes. It’s a family-friendly place where paella is served in the pan it’s cooked in, with spoons to eat it directly, without plates, as traditionally eaten. Any trip to San Ferran is a journey for the senses, combining the natural beauty of Formentera with a range of culinary delights.
