The Mediterranean in a Glass: Wine from Ànima Negra
Since 1994, Ànima Negra Viticultors in Felanitx has been known for its authentic, personal wines that honour the Mediterranean. Their creations, made from native varieties such as Callet and Manto Negro, come to life at Son Burguera, a historic 13th-century estate. Their wines reflect a connection to the land, the climate and Mallorca’s winemaking tradition.
Ànima Negra was launched in 1994 when three friends decided to back Mallorca’s native grapes at a time when foreign varieties dominated. Its winery, located on the historic Son Burguera estate, embodies centuries of winemaking tradition in the southeast of the island, totally immersed in the Mediterranean landscape.
With 150 micro-plots around Felanitx, Ànima Negra cultivates old vines that respect the unique soil and climate. Hand selection and the use of native yeasts are an essential part of their ethos. Wines such as ÀN, mineral and complex, or Quíbia, a white wine marked by its salinity and freshness, are examples of their commitment to authenticity.
This commitment from Miquel Àngel Cerdá and Pere Obrador goes beyond wine: it is a declaration of love for the land. These small productions are available in more than 40 countries, demonstrating Ànima Negra’s leading position in Mallorcan winegrowing, faithful to its roots yet open to the world.
