Malvasia and The Sea: The Secret Behind Ca'n Pico
In Banyalbufar, among terraced land overlooking the sea and the Tramuntana mountain breeze, Ca'n Pico winery produces white Malvasia wines under the Vi de la Terra Serra de Tramuntana-Costa Nord geographical indication. Producing just 3,000 litres per year, this micro-winery combines tradition, technology and sustainability to create wine like no other.
Ca'n Pico may be the smallest winery in Mallorca, but it is also one of the finest, thanks to its artisan Malvasia wine. Its vineyard plots rest on cliffside terraces, benefitting from the coastal climate and mountainous soil that add unique nuances to its dry and sweet wines. These wines are also part of the ‘Serra de Tramuntana-Costa Nord’ label.
Wine of exceptional quality is achieved through hand-harvesting and controlled fermentation in steel tanks and oak barrels. The product: a golden wine with notes of apricot, honey and a balanced finish. Each bottle celebrates the recovery of the Malvasia grape in Banyalbufar, after decades of disuse due to phylloxera.
