In the historic winegrowing area of Manacor, Son Vell Vinyes i Vi produces organic wines that evoke the real Mallorca. Under the Vi de la Terra Illes Balears label, Toni Sureda and his family fuse traditional techniques with sustainability. Their reds, such as Son Vell 2018, capture the soul of the native varieties Callet and Fogoneu.
Son Vell Vinyes i Vi is a family venture that has revived winemaking on the Mallorcan east coast. In its organic vineyards, native vines grow alongside fruit trees, vegetables and sheep, a symbiosis that honours biodiversity. Under the Vi de la Terra Illes Balears label, their wines reflect the purity of Mallorcan grapes and a commitment to the environment.
Made from Callet and Fogoneu grapes, ‘Son Vell 2018’ is aged for 12 months in used French oak barrels. With aromas of red fruits, Mediterranean herbs and earthy notes, this red wine impresses with its freshness and character. It is aged underground, an experimental method by Toni Sureda, to add a singular elegance. The winery also produces Corrent, a young, affordable red wine that completes its range.
With only two labels, Son Vell Vinyes i Vi proves that both quality and sustainability can be achieved, relaying the identity and spirit of the Mallorcan land in every bottle.
