Wines with a Sea Breeze and Chalky Soil
Situated in the picturesque north of Mallorca, the Can Xanet estate covers 2 hectares in the foothills of the Tramuntana mountain range, between Pollensa and Alcudia. With a gentle slope of 2.7% and chalky soil, this winery benefits from a special microclimate thanks to being near the sea and receiving warm summer winds. The care put into managing their vineyards, including sustainable practices and manual harvesting, results in exceptional wines under the ‘Vi de la Terra Mallorca’ indication.
In the north of Mallorca, Can Xanet sits between Pollensa and Alcudia, in the foothills of the Tramuntana mountain range. This 2-hectare estate, with its chalky soil and 2.7% slope, offers breathtaking views of the Bay of Pollensa. The strategic location of the vineyard means the groundwater is fed by water from the mountains, preventing water stress until well into the summer.
The coastal setting boasts a singular microclimate, where warm winds cool the vines and ensure the balanced ripening of the grapes. The farming practices at Can Xanet are fair and sustainable, with minimal crop protection treatments and respect for the surrounding plant life. Careful pruning and manual harvesting ensure the quality of each cluster.
Four grape varieties are grown on this estate: Merlot, Syrah, Manto Negro and Gorgollassa. An additional 1,000 kilos of Callet are purchased from an organic farm. After being harvested in 15 kg crates, the grapes spend one day in a chamber at 8ºC before being destemmed and fermented with their own yeasts. Ageing in French oak barrels for 12 months, followed by coupage, creates wines that capture Can Xanet’s personality.
