Agroform

Local Fruit and Vegetables with an Italian Accent in Formentera

Agroform is one of the most renowned farming projects in Formentera. Across six hectares of land in Sant Ferran, Gandolfo Spagnuolo grows fruit and vegetables using sustainable, chemical-free methods to achieve authentic flavours. All produce is sold directly to the end user, guaranteeing fresh, locally-sourced food full of flavour.

On soil enhanced with dried posidonia sea grass, horse manure and pruning waste, Agroform grows fruit and vegetables using sustainable methods without synthetic chemicals. On six hectares of land in Sant Ferran, Gandolfo Spagnuolo has created a farming model based on the true taste of locally-sourced produce that respects the environment. Tomatoes, onions, aubergines, figs, watermelons, melons and more, depending on the season, are sold directly to customers, without go-betweens.

Drip irrigation controls the salinity of the water and maximises every drop. Production is small-scale, and they don’t cater to restaurants or hotels, but to those looking for fresh, honest, zero-mile produce.

Agroform is also on the Slow Food Formentera map, which recognises work that respects the land and values simplicity. Buying here means going straight to the source: to a hand-worked allotment, to the real flavour, to the connection between the land and food.
