The Best of Pollença: Its Market, Its History and Its People
Every Sunday, from 8am to 1:30pm, Mercat de Pollença transforms the town’s old quarter into a lively place to shop; a long-standing tradition. With more than 300 market stalls, it offers a wide range of fruit, vegetables, cured sausages, cheese, footwear, handicrafts and fabrics. Its authentic atmosphere, surrounded by history and mountains, makes it one of the most popular markets in the north of Mallorca.
Located in Plaça Major, Plaça de Ca les Monnares and Via Pollentia, Mercat de Pollença is one of the island’s greatest markets, known for its wide range of local products and friendly atmosphere. From early in the morning, local farmers offer seasonal fruit and vegetables, free-range eggs, cured sausages and cheese from Mallorca and Menorca, as well as spices and jarred foods.
Beyond food, market-goers can find footwear, clothing, handicrafts and a wide variety of traditional items. Thanks to its prime location, you can walk through the market while discovering the old town of Pollença, including its parish church, the Santo Domingo Monastery and the 365 Calvari Steps offering breathtaking views.
