Semanas Gastronómicas in Formentera: Celebrating Local Flavours
Every October, Formentera celebrates its Semanas Gastronómicas (literally ‘Gastronomic Weeks’), an event that honours traditional cuisine and local produce, bringing together the best restaurants on the island. For two weeks, partaking restaurants have special set-price menus, offering their own take on the island’s most iconic recipes. Customers can also vote for their favourite menu and take part in prize draws, making food yet another reason to visit Formentera in Autumn.
The Semanas Gastronómicas event in Formentera offers a unique way to discover the island’s rich cuisine through menus designed especially for the event. Each restaurant creates dishes using local ingredients, from fresh fish to vegetables, putting their own creative twist on tradition with quality produce.
This event not only showcases the island's cuisine, but also offers rewards to both the restaurants taking part and those who enjoy their food. Through an online voting system, customers can rate their experience and enter a draw to receive a cash prize, and the best rated restaurants also get awards.
With an attractive layout and the support of the restaurant industry, Formentera’s Semanas Gastronómicas have become a staple event for celebrating the best of local produce in a unique setting.
