At La Residencia, in the heart of the Tramuntana mountains, walking alongside friendly donkeys through ancient olive groves is part of an experience involving the smell of rosemary and the taste of Mallorca. The walk ends at an old shepherd's hut with a traditional lunch: pa amb oli, cheese, cured meats and Mallorcan herb liqueur.
The excursion starts in the hotel gardens, where Gitanillo, Cipri, Fosca and Chico, the resident donkeys, are waiting for you. At a relaxed pace, the route goes up along centuries-old paths, crossing the Poets' Walk and pine forests. They carry the luggage, while visitors enjoy the views of the sea and the countryside in Deià.
On arrival at the retreat, a table with a fancy white tablecloth offers local products for you to try: flor de sal, sobrassada sausage, ensaïmada pastry and a practical class on how to prepare a good pa amb oli (bread with olive oil).
